©2014 29" x 36" In addition to paying monetary fines, Civil War soldiers found guilty of inappropriate behavior often received other unusual punishments following their military court marshals. Private William Thompson, found guilty of desertion, was paraded before his regiment two hours a day for five days wearing a sign with the word “Skedaddler” written on it. The quilt contains 18 pieced 4”-blocks.
