291 Red Bars of Courage

©2017 22” x 26” Inspired by a picture of an antique quilt of unknown origin, I reproduced a small portion of it using blue, gray, brown, and olive prints in tiny nine-patch blocks separated by red bars. The bars reminded me of The Red Badge of Courage, a powerful novel about a young man’s experience during the Civil War.
